Do You Have A Heart After God’s Own Heart?

My daily Bible reading shows God considered David “after his own heart:”

“But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.” (I Samuel 13:14)

It is so Important that our heart is “after his own heart” because that is what God is Looking at:

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (I Samuel 16:7)

Along with God’s Heart people must also have a Strong Mentality based on Bible Principles.  Mentality based on Bible Principles is how people know Truth.  It is Truth that Sets people free.  Mentality will Make or Break people.  David’s Mentality is shown in my daily Bible reading:

“And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (I Samuel 17:26)

David’s Mentality is how he Defeated Goliath:

“And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.  So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.  Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.” (I Samuel 17:49-51)

People with Bible Principles Mentality is how people know what Works for them:

“And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.  And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.” (I Samuel 17:39-40)

People know when people are “after his own heart” because it shows in their behavior as in my daily Bible reading:

“And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.  And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.” (I Samuel 18:5, 14)

One reason God considered David “after his own heart” is David had a relationship with God.  That relationship is how God led David.  My daily Bible reading shows that relationship is also how David seeks God:

“Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.  Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.” (I Samuel 23:2, 4)

“God’s Process” (Posted at this Website) is how people get to “after his own heart.”  Being “after his own heart” does not mean we do not have Issues.  We ALL have Issues.  How we deal with our Issues is how we get to “after his own heart.”  The Word of God, our Relationship with the Holy Spirit and God’s Process not only gets people to “after his own heart,” but is how people deal with their Issues.

When people are “after his own heart” they know what God Will and Will Not approve of and know how to CHECK their Actions and Behavior:

“And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily.  And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt.  And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.” (I Samuel 24:4-6)

When people are “after his own heart” they know how to encourage themselves because as my daily Bible reading shows with “after his own heart” comes “after his own heart” Power:

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” (I Samuel 30:6)

“And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” (I Samuel 30:8)

The article, “Dying 5-Year-Old Girl Chooses ‘Heaven Over Hospital’: ‘Don’t Worry. God Will Take Care of Me’” really bothered me, (Article posted @ Facebook and Twitter) which states:

At five years old, Julianna Snow has already experienced a lifetime worth of pain.
The Oregon girl is dying from an incurable, degenerative neuromuscular disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT), which has had her in and out of hospitals for the past 18 months enduring “countless procedures” and spending “weeks at a time trying to breathe,” her mom, Michelle Moon, wrote in a post entitled “My Daughter Wants to Choose Heaven Over the Hospital’” on The Mighty, a website for families struggling with disabilities, serious diseases and life and death issues.
So earlier this year, her parents, Michelle Moon and Steve Snow, asked her what she wanted to do the next time she got seriously ill and needed to go to the hospital.
Their daughter chose heaven, her mom, who also has a blog, wrote on the website.
“A few months after we started hospice, Julianna made it clear to us that she does not want to go to the hospital again,” her mom wrote in May 2015. “Like so many kids who have had to face life-threatening illness, she is wise beyond her years – but she is still only 4 years old.
“I do not think that she will survive another illness, especially without aggressive intervention,” she wrote. “Julianna understands this, too. We have had some remarkable, uncomfortable, humbling conversations about heaven.”
Before these conversations, Michelle says she and Steve had planned to take Julianna to the hospital if she got sick again. But after hearing Julianna’s wishes, they changed their minds, Michelle told CNN in an email.
“She made it clear that she doesn’t want to go through the hospital again,” Michelle wrote. “So we had to let go of that plan because it was selfish.”
Michelle wrote a second column in early June explaining more about their decision.
“Julianna talks about the hospital – a lot,” she wrote. “Usually about how much she hates it. I tried to remind her of all the wonderful people who helped her.
“We hate all the NT [naso-tracheal suction, the thing she hated the most from the hospital],” she wrote, “and pokes too – but they killed the germs and let her come home so didn’t that make it OK?
“We had this conversation many, many times,” she wrote. “Julianna wouldn’t say anything, One night in early February, she finally answered. She said “no.” And then she started talking about heaven.
While some ethicists disagree with their decision to listen to their daughter, according to CNN, Julianna’s doctor supports them, he told CNN.
“For her, there is no light at the end of the tunnel,” Danny Hsia, her pulmonologist says, told CNN. “She doesn’t have a long time to live.”

The article bothered me because God is a God of Life.  A 5-year-old is too young to have a Mentality like this.  Her parents should have never asked her that question.  Children HEAR more than parents realize.  Her parents should be encouraging her to FIGHT and not letting her give up.  Her fighting could help someone else continue to fight even if she loses the battle.

Parenting never ends.  My son is 38 and I still give my input.  Because he is 38 my Mentality is “You can receive this or reject it.”  At 38 the bottom line is it is HIS decision.  At 5 this should have never been a decision for her.  Doctors have medical experience, but they do not know what is at the end of the tunnel.  That last FIGHT could produce a Miracle.  Our children are ours, but they Belong to God.  Because I told my son I am clear with God and now his decision is on him.  At 5 that decision is on her parents.  As in everything that Belongs to God people will answer to God for how they handled what Belongs to Him.

As my daily Bible reading shows NOT having “after his own heart” always catches up to people:

“Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.  And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul’s sons.  And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.  Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.  And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.  So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.  And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.  And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.  And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.” (I Samuel 31:1-9)

“December 25th” is what I call the day.  It is not Christmas Anymore because Jesus is not the Reason for the Season Anymore.  I do not understand why people are upset about Starbucks’ “red cup.”  They are just being honest.  Even though that is the way it is I still tell people “Merry Christmas” not Happy Holidays.  Make sure “after his own heart” is part of your Christmas Celebration!  It is Jesus’ Birthday so be sure to give Him “Your Life Everyday” as His Present!!  “Silent Night” sung by The Temptations is on my “Fitness Walking Playlist” so I sing it all year long because Christmas is Everyday!!!

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
